Proper PH for more enjoyable swimming

The PH without getting into all the scientific details of the human eye is between 7.2 and 7.4.  Therefor if you keep the PH of your pool water at this level you can help avoid swimmers burning eyes. While most people think that high chlorine levels are to blame for such things as burning eyes, green hair and a host of other problems.  99.9% of the time it is maintaining an improper PH level. Always keep your PH between 7.2 and 7.6. Test your water using either fresh reagents or test strips.  If it's high and a required amount of muratic  acid.  If it's low add a required amount of soda ash or baking soda. I think you'll a better swimming environment when the proper PH is maintained. Remember that plaster pools have a greater problem with PH change than do vinyl or fiberglass. Helpful tip for above ground pool owners

An in ground pool has a drain at the bottom.  This is missing from above ground pools.  Therefor when an above ground pool's water becomes cloudy it is often difficult to get it to clear up. Try this trick add a clarifier (follow mfg. instructions) use your vacuum as a drain.  Simply attach your vacuum hose as usual.  Then place the vacuum head in the middle of the pool upside down.  This will act the same way as a drain in an in ground pool and give your water much better circulation and help clear it up much faster.  I hope you  find this tip helpful.  If you live in Las Vegas and have a pool problem or need service please call Rick The Pool Dude at 702-448-2483

Pool myth busted

Time to bust one of the most overused pool myths out there.  Folks there is absolutely no chemical made that changes the color of pool water when someone pees in the pool.  Now here's a fact in a recent survey 1 in 5 adults admitted to peeing in a pool. That doesn't include people who didn't admit to it and children. So always make sure your sanitizer levels are correct and make sure you shock the pool after heavy use.
